Information for Musicians

TIMES: The market is on Tuesdays from the end of May through October. Hours are 2:00 to 6:30 through September, and 2:00 to 6:00 in October. Sometimes we book two acts, one from 2-4 pm, and the other from 4:30 to 6:30. Other times we only book one act, as some musicians like to stay for longer than two hours. If you would prefer to play for a shorter or longer time frame, please specify this in the application. Recurring performances are welcomed and subject to availability. We want to be flexible, and work around your schedule if possible.

SETUP: The LFM provides an open sided tent for musicians and a ground tarp to protect equipment if necessary.  If you arrive before 1:30 pm you may drive up to the tent to unload. All cars must be off the market site by 1:45 in preparation for the opening bell at 2:00. If you arrive later, or are the second act, you will have to bring your gear from the access road to the music tent. This is only about 20 yards, and we have a cart that you can use if needed, and volunteer help available.

POWER: We do not have access to an electrical outlet at the market, so music is powered by a portable battery. The battery will power an amp or small PA system without any trouble. If you have more than two or three people, please discuss your setup and power requirements with us.

VOLUME: Music at the market is background music and cannot be at a volume that disrupts shopping transactions. Musicians must be willing to turn the volume down if requested to do so.

FEES & GRATUITIES: The LFM is unfortunately not able to pay musicians and greatly appreciates those who want to share their music at the market and join in the market vibe. As a very small thank you, we give $10 in market vouchers to musicians so you can shop a little at the market. Musicians are also welcome to put out a tip jar/guitar case/what have you. We let shoppers know that musicians are donating their time and encourage tipping. You may also sell CDs or other merchandise and make your mailing list available to shoppers.

CANCELLATIONS/DELAYS: All cancellations must be done at least 24 hours in advance. Please be courteous and give us some time in order to schedule other entertainment. If you need to cancel, please contact the Entertainment Coordinator. If there is a chance of a late arrival please call the Entertainment Coordinator to ensure your time slot is not filled.

We understand that an unpaid gig may not work for musicians relying on performing for income and wish we had the budgetary flexibility to pay. We appreciate your interest in being part of the LFM! Any questions and concerns can be directed to Geoff Keith, LFM Entertainment Coordinator, here.
