Weekly Newsletter

The Market is currently looking for a volunteer who enjoys writing and has knowledge of newsletter layout and design. Experience with Constant Contact is a plus, though we can train.  

It is important that the volunteer is capable of independent writing and editing for each weekly edition.  This job should take approximately 2-3 hours per week, or could possibly be a shared job with another volunteer.

Facebook or Blog

The Market is also looking for writers to contribute content to our Facebook page and/or blog (or arrange for guest bloggers)

Articles for Print

Writers are needed to submit occasional articles for print in local publications such as the Lexington Minuteman or Colonial Times.

Liaison to the Town of Lexington

This volunteer is the liaison between the Lexington Farmers Market and town officials. Responsibilities include:

  • Presenting a market summary to the Board of Selectmen in February
  • Meeting with Board of Health, DPW, Police and Assistant Town Manager in early spring to review plans for coming season
  • Inviting Selectmen and other Town officials to participate in various events during the season
  • Initiating or responding to situations with appropriate policies and procedures
  • Requesting Town approval as needed, e.g. placement of sign boards on Town land

Non-profit Planner

This volunteer position involves scheduling non-profit organizations to participate in our market each week. Responsibilities include:

  • Contacting appropriate non-profit organizations
  • Responding to non-profit inquiries about participation at our market
  • Making sure the organization can demonstrate 501(C)(3) status
  • Scheduling the non-profit participants for each week
  • Entering schedule on LFM Google spreadsheet
  • Keeping up with schedule changes during the season

 Other Volunteer Opportunities

  • Hosting a market sandwich board at your home and putting it out on Tuesdays to advertise the market
  • Assisting customers at the market manager tent on Tuesdays
