The purpose of the Lexington Farmers' Market is to provide fresh, native produce directly from farmers to residents. We're working to help the local farming industry remain vibrant, educate our community about healthy eating, maintain a sustainable environment, and provide a social experience that helps build community.

| 2009 Market Highlights |
- We averaged 800 people at the market each Tuesday, despite the rainy summer!
- Website & media coverage: our market was featured in the Boston Globe and Worcester News, as well as other local papers such as the Lexington Minuteman, Lexington Shopper and Colonial Times. Our email newsletter was sent weekly from June – September to close to 1000 people that have signed up to receive our news.
- Over 34 farmers and vendors sold thousands of pounds of fresh local produce (organic and conventional), grass-fed beef and fresh fish, cheeses and cut flowers, jams and jellies, fresh bread, cookies and other baked goods, refreshing gelato, and delicious prepared foods.
- We hosted 35 different local artisans and 17 non-profit local organizations. We had 19 entertainers, and were fortunate to receive a Mass Council of the Arts grant, which allowed us to purchase a solar battery to have a power source for our entertainers.
- Market managers Deb Jackson, Janet Kern and Lori Deliso ran the market with the help of over 52 volunteers who, among other things, maintained our website, staffed the market, arranged weekly entertainment and artisans, wrote publicity pieces for local media and delivered food to families in need.
- Over the five years our market has been running, our coupon program has distributed over $5000 to families in need and delivered fresh and locally grown produce to their tables.
- Kids Cooking Green, an educational outreach program of the Farmers’ Market, will have reached over 300 children and their families, teaching them about cooking, nutrition and the value of eating locally grown foods. This program is offered with the cooperation of the Lexington elementary schools' Parent-Teacher Associations and the support of Paul Ash, Superintendent of Lexington Public Schools.
- We continue to be deeply grateful to our corporate sponsors who have given us invaluable financial support and have volunteered their time to host events like our annual Tomato Fest, Fall Harvest Festival, and Bike to the Market Days. These events are free, educational, and fun to attend.
- We hosted six Market festivals with the Tomato Festival on September 8th drawing the biggest crowds of the season. Other events were two Bike to Market days, Eat In-Act Out, Harvest Festival, and Water Wonderful.
